Kitty Pryde's appearance was originally based by artist John Byrne on a young Sigourney Weaver.

Her Jewish heritage is an important part of her character. She is often seen wearing a Star of David necklace, and her faith has been explored in various storylines, most notably in a Hanukkah-themed story in Uncanny X-Men #199.
