Notes and Trivia

1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6)

1)
Tigra's original codename, The Cat, was later adopted by another Marvel character, Patsy Walker, when she became the hero Hellcat. This is an occasional point of confusion for new readers.
2)
Greer's transformation into Tigra in Giant-Size Creatures #1 was presented as a permanent, irreversible change. However, several later stories introduced a mystical amulet that could temporarily revert her to her human form. This ability has been used inconsistently and is often forgotten, with most modern depictions treating her Tigra form as her permanent state.
3)
A planned adult animated series for the Hulu streaming service, titled Tigra & Dazzler, was announced in 2019. It was intended to be part of a crossover event called The Offenders. Unfortunately, the project was cancelled in early 2020 before it went into production.
4)
The Cat People, the race Tigra is now part of, have a long and complicated history in Marvel Comics, first appearing in the horror comic Fear #19 (1973). They were created by sorcerers in the Middle Ages as a servant race.
5)
The storyline involving Tigra's brutalization by The Hood's gang in the New Avengers series by writer Brian Michael Bendis is considered a landmark, if controversial, moment for the character. It was praised for its raw emotional depth and character development but criticized for its graphic violence.
6)
Tigra's son, William Nelson, inherited a mix of her abilities and his Skrull father's shapeshifting powers, though he has the appearance of a normal human child. Tigra has gone to great lengths to protect him, even leaving the Avengers for a time to provide him with a safe, normal life.
